Maryam communicating. She likes that We belong photo on the wall. She pointed to herself. I asked: Who else can you see? She replied: Hmm hmm. I asked: Where's Bayan? and she located her in the photo and pointed to her. I said: Maryam is sitting on T Naema's knee and she responded by nodding her head. He pai to whakarongo – Good listening. Teacher Jane.
In the morning Maryam was trying to ask me to read her a book. She held it up and looked at me. I asked her: Would you like me to read you a story, Maryam? She nodded her head and I said: Say yes please, teacher Huda. I read her the story and she was engaged in the illustrations and the words I spoke.
In the afternoon we went outside. She helds my hand and led me towards the swing. She pointed at it as if she was trying to ask me to put her in the swing!
I asked: Would you like me to push you on the swing,Maryam? She nodded her head. I said: Yes, please andMaryam nodded her head again with a big smile.
What learning has occurred?
Your learning pathway for term one is I am learning different ways to express myself. Mashallah Maryam, it’s great to see you building trust with your teachers and the confidence to express you wants and needs through pointing your finger, nodding your head and smiling. You are a good listener and use reciprocal skills in conversation. You are showing familiarity with stories and you enjoy them a lot.
